There is quite literally a Spotify podcast for everything. There’s comedy podcasts for people who love to sprinkle a little humor into their day. There’s true crime podcasts for the curious-minded (and strong-stomached). There’s food podcasts that give listeners some inspiration for the next meal they want to cook. And then there are educational podcasts about some of the more pressing issues facing our planet, like environmentalism.

If you are trying to be more environmentally conscious, Spotify creates and hosts a number of podcasts you can listen to. Some are more educational and focus on presenting and dissecting facts, news, and information concerning changes to our planet, while others present positive news to help calm the anxiety of those who are constantly worried about the state of our planet.

Below are some of Spotify’s top environmental podcasts you should consider adding to your podcast rotation today.

How to Save a Planet

Launched in 2020 by Gimlet, How to Save a Planet is a podcast that asks some of the bigger questions. What should we be doing to make a difference? How can we make sure it gets done? Hosts Alex Blumberg and Dr. Ayana Elizabeth Johnson interview guests who are making an impact, scout the Earth for solutions, and crack some dumb jokes along the way.

1,5 Grad

This is an original Spotify podcast that was created for Spotify’s German listeners. 1,5 Grad host, Luisa Neubauer, an activist and co-organizer of the Fridays for Future movement, explores a multitude of questions about the global climate crisis on her podcast. Some of the topics of her episodes include what habits to habitats after they become uninhabitable and what mankind’s most dangerous crisis is and what we must do to get out of it.

Hot Take

Mary Annaïse Heglar and Amy Westervelt are the hosts of Hot Take, which listeners can access via their Spotify accounts. Hot Take takes a feminist, race-forward approach towards talking about our planet and our climate crisis. Unlike some other podcasts, these co-hosts say their perspective is ‘no-bullshit’ and all honesty.

Inherited

Swedish youth activist Greta Thunberg quickly took the world by storm, but the youth climate movement stretches far beyond the faces and stories we’ve heard on the news. The Inherited podcast is dedicated to sharing stories about all teenagers and young adults fighting for their futures.

TILclimate

The topic of climate change can be a confusing one. TILclimate, an award-winning MIT podcast, helps to make it more digestible for listeners. They break down the science, technologies, and policies behind climate change, how they impact us, and what we can do to further these initiatives. Each episode is incredibly short, with most episodes averaging around ten to fifteen minutes, but they are quite impactful.

At Spotify, we take environmentalism and sustainability very seriously. We hope that listeners who feel the same way we do will find comfort, insight, and inspiration after listening to these podcasts.
